Even though I knew it was immanent, it’s still hard to believe. It was immanent, because there was no way Steve would leave his position of innovation unless he absolutely had to. And that would mean the worst.
You could see his delight in the implementation of design, form and function. When he stepped down from Apple, it was the end. Like a person giving up on life itself. Steve was driven. An unflinching force moving as fast as his imagination would allow.
The well-wishes have been pouring in on Facebook, Twitter and more: Rest In Peace.
Im sorry, but thats just wrong. It goes against the grain. That’s like inviting Gordon Ramsay to McDonald’s, or asking Sammy Hagar to play Mozart. Rest in peace? The man’s job wasn’t done. By his nature, it would have never been done. There would always be “one more thing.”
I’m really disturbed by this “rest.” its way too final. Not for Mr. Jobs, but for us. Steve wouldn’t have wanted to rest, and he wouldn’t have wanted Apple to rest. We must all continue to “think different.” While it’s bad grammar, it’s a great example. Innovation must continue. Let’s hope that Apple doesn’t rest on it’s laurels, Steve’s business progeny step up to continue the fight, and we Remember Steve’s example of never resting in his search for the next big thing.

Mort was a feeling a bit cramped over on VinceUnleashed.net – so I decided to give him his own little space on the web – A place he can call home – even though he really doesn’t have one (perhaps he actually owns everything, and chooses to walk-about?).
